Weapon Type Make a Difference?
I was wondering if the type of weapon had an effect on enemies in GW? For instance, in DnD games a bludgeon weapon is very useful against skeletons while slashing weapons would incur a penalty. You could kill them, but it would take longer and you would subject yourself to greater injury.
Does this hold true in GW? |

Yes, certain enemies are weak against certain types of damage. Skeletons will take extra damage from blunt weapons, but they also have a resistance to piercing damage.
Slashing does extra damage against plants. This includes things like Pinesouls and Thorn Stalkers. That's all i know for physical damage types, resistances and weaknesses against elemental damage exist as well, but as there are so many i wont go into that. |

Also, enemies in PvE react differently to you based on the weapon you are holding. If you were to carry a martial weapon on a caster profession, for example, they might target you with [skill=text]Empathy[/skill] or [skill=textl]Soothing Images[/skill].

Sorry about this ... newbie here, How do you know what is the best weapon to use when it isn't obvious? I understand against ice elementals you would use fire, but what about against the various charr?

Keep in mind they have armor very much like players.
Exmple a war char will have 80 armor + 20 vs physical, this mean if you equip an elemental mod to your weapon you are bypassing the 20vs physical. Rangers are 70 + 30vs elemental so the revearse works... Wiki may have some info, but I know of no complete listing of all monsters and their weakness. |
